Maverick is a sophomore majoring in Physics. He is a member of the Caltech Orchestra where he plays the violin. In his free time, he enjoys hiking the San Gabriel Mountains, exploring the nooks and crannies of Pasadena, and improvising various projects (primarily out of E-waste.) In his freshman year, he did a SURF with Dr. Stevan Nadj-Perge on 2D-material heterostructures. His advice to those who are looking for a SURF is "Don't hesitate to contact professors who conduct research in areas beyond what you initially considered; you just might find something new that piques your interest!"
