About
The Student-Faculty Programs Office contributes to Caltech's mission of expanding human knowledge and benefitting society through research integrated with education by providing programs and services that support the academic, professional, and personal development of our students.
Our office provides leadership to undergraduate experiential learning initiatives, including undergraduate research; develops and implements resources that support effective and inclusive mentoring practices; and contributes to campus diversity efforts, including the recruitment and support of graduate students from racially minoritized and historically marginalized communities in STEM.
To this end, we
- Strive for inclusive excellence by ensuring access for students of diverse backgrounds and interests and by supporting the retention and persistence of students from racially minoritized and historically marginalized communities.
- Promote a culture of research and a community of scholars by involving students in Caltech's research enterprise.
- Encourage strong mentor-student relationships by providing training and support to faculty, postdoctoral scholars, and graduate students.
- Expose students to enrichment programs and activities that foster engagement with the broader Institute community and provide opportunities to develop as leaders and change makers.
- Foster a sense of belonging by mentoring the whole student and increasing access to opportunities to enhance their STEM identity and trajectory.
