Originally from the UK, Jean-Sebastien (JS) is now a senior at Caltech, dual-majoring in Computer Science and Biology. He is actively involved in various Caltech clubs, serving as Treasurer of the Undergraduate Computer Science Club. His hobbies include reading, Lego-building, concert-going, drone flying, and drawing. He also likes driving up to Vandenberg to see rocket launches. JS has SURFed in the Winfree and Pierce Labs at Caltech and the Gao Lab at Stanford. His advice to prospective applicants: "Try not to send impersonal cold emails to lots of professors. In my experience, fewer but considered emails, asking questions about papers, and showing knowledge of a professor's research, is your best bet at getting a SURF."
