The summer after her first year at Caltech, Shelby completed an off-campus SURF in a Mechanical Engineering lab at Stanford University. During this summer, she worked on revising and testing a new insulin pump design that is more accurate than commercially available models. Shelby plans to double major in Mehchanical Engineering and Business, Economics, and Management (BEM). Aside from her academic passions, Shelby enjoys many outdoor activities like skiing, mountain biking, and rock climbing, and she plays for the Women's Soccer team at Caltech.
