Raised in Cape Canaveral, Florida, Bisrat has had a lot of experience with (actual) surfing, and got a chance to do some Caltech SURFing this summer! Working in the Ye Research Group, Bisrat was tasked with synthesizing multiple materials and characterizing them. Outside of academics, Bisrat is on the track and field, loves exploring Los Angeles' food scene, and participates in every house activity that pops up. "Searching for a mentor early is key," Bisrat mentions. "Responses take time, so giving yourself leeway is important."
