Graduate Summer Research Institute (GSRI)

GSRI

The Graduate Summer Research Institute (GSRI) provides a comprehensive program of orientation, academic support, and professional development designed to ease the transition into Caltech's graduate programs. GSRI is designed to introduce incoming graduate students from historically marginalized and/or underserved groups to the value of graduate education; to improve the research enterprise through increased diversity; and to ensure these students thrive at Caltech.

Through effective programming focused on mentoring, professional development, and skills-based workshops, students will feel prepared to navigate their first year as a graduate student at Caltech. Students who participate in this program will be better prepared and motivated to pursue advanced degrees, thereby helping to sustain a rich talent pool in critical areas of research and innovation.

2021 Summer Program:

  • A 10-day schedule of:
    • professional development workshops relevant to being a successful graduate student
    • community/cohort building experiences with other incoming graduate students
    • opportunities to learn from and engage with campus resources.

The 2021 dates for the Graduate Summer Research Institute are September 8-17.
