How is Caltech organized?

First: Caltech has six academic divisions: Biology and Biological Engineering (BBE), Chemistry and Chemical Engineering (CCE),Engineering and Applied Science (EAS), Geological and Planetary Sciences (GPS), Humanities and Social Science (HSS), and Physics, Math and Astronomy (PMA).

Second: Each academic division has many research areas. Faculty may conduct research in more than one research area and even across divisions!

Finally: Caltech is home to more than 50 research centers and institutes. A research center or institute is home to faculty from across campus and is focused on a research area that may span many different divisions. Several of Caltech's centers and institutes partner with WAVE to provide outstanding research opportunities:

How do I go about identifying potential WAVE mentors?

First: Look at the list below and identify your research area of interest.

Second: Explore the links and learn more about the research projects of individual faculty.

Third: If your interests lie in any of the subject areas of a Caltech research center or institute, review those websites to see what individual faculty are working on.

Fourth: Identify up to three faculty that you are interested in working with.
